Harriton hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Wood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will welcome the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Harriton will be strutting in after a win while Archbishop Wood will be coming in after a defeat.
Harriton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Springfield a 14-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Harriton let Gaven Bowman and Cole Chodkowski run wild. Bowman went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Chodkowski went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Bowman a new career-high. Colin Sullivan was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Harriton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.17 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Central, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since May 18, 2024.
Jimmy Casey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zach Neeld, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Harriton and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Wood, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Harriton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Wood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Harriton suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Archbishop Wood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
