Union has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the West Columbus Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Columbus took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Union, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Union was able to grind out a solid victory over Spring Creek, taking the game 47-39. The win was just what Union needed coming off of a 60-38 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Ariyona Spearman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The game was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Centavia McKoy was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, West Columbus' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 72-5 loss at the hands of St. Pauls. West Columbus was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-2.
Union has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for West Columbus, they bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Union against West Columbus when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 57-16 win. With Union ahead 29-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
