Northwestern waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Chaminade-Madonna Lions by a score of 78-65.

Northwestern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Russell Jr., who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Russell Jr. continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zacuras Dawson, who posted 18 points.

Northwestern was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaminade-Madonna only racked up four assists.

When it comes to explaining why Chaminade-Madonna lost, don't look at Jasen Lopez. Despite the final result, he had 29 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. That was a full 44.6% of Chaminade-Madonna's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Mothersill, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 115-13 win against Booker T. Washington on the 14th. As for Chaminade-Madonna, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Chaminade-Madonna Lions challenge the Coral Glades Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaminade-Madonna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Coral Glades likes a good challenge.
