The Phoenix Spartans lost against the De La Salle Cavalier back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Phoenix took a 52-36 bruising from De La Salle. Phoenix has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: Khiah Hamilton scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamilton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiya Addison, who scored eight points.
Phoenix now has a losing record at 13-14. As for De La Salle, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix will take on Chalmette at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chalmette knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Phoenix likes a good challenge. De La Salle won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Liberty Magnet presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than De La Salle in Louisiana (Liberty Magnet is ranked 19th, while De La Salle is ranked 200th).
