There's no place like home for the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 50-9 at home. That's another feather in the cap for Gulf Pointe Latin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Holland Hamer, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Matthews, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Gulf Pointe Latin's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Varsity Opponent, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 33-140-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Pointe Latin will square off against East Hill Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hill Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethune at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bethune focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 last Saturday.
