The Maxwell Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Los Molinos Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Maxwell's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
On Friday, Maxwell was fully in charge, breezing past Quincy 42-7. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Maxwell can attribute much of their success to Erik New, who rushed for 115 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and Luke Pearson, who gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns. Pearson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Levi Velasquez also deserves a shout-out for his two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Maxwell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Maxwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tanner Vierra, Pearson, and Colt Montgomery picked up one apiece. Montgomery has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, Los Molinos played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Hamilton, falling 63-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost three in a row.
Maxwell's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Los Molinos, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Maxwell has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Los Molinos struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 234.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Maxwell couldn't quite finish off Los Molinos in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 37-35. Thankfully for the Panthers, Harrison Hamre (who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 84 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
