The Agawam Brownies will head out on the road to face off against the Greenfield Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Agawam is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Agawam's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Holyoke. The Brownies haven't had any issues with the Purple Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Agawam got a massive performance out of Madelyn Pajer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Pajer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Stairs, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Agawam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Greenfield had just enough and edged out Pittsfield 1-0 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Green Wave.
Not much got past MacKenzie Paulin, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Pittsfield off the board. Paulin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
Agawam pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield, their record is now 10-4.
Both Agawam and Greenfield just can't seem to miss. The Brownies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Greenfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Agawam came up short against Greenfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Brownies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
