Dawson waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Alvin Yellowjackets as they made off with a 3-0 win. Despite the loss, Alvin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Paige Helpenstill had five digs and two aces. Helpenstill also set a new season-high mark in assists with 29. Joana Cach also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.
Dawson's victory bumped their record up to 24-4. As for Alvin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.
