The Carroll Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Slocomb Red Tops at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Carroll is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Early County 17-2 on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Kaden Baxter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Carroll's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Tyson Burks was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI. Holton Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Slocomb, as they earned their first road win of the season. They were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over Ashford on Saturday. Considering the Red Tops have won three games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Wyatt Reeder, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Hayes Hatton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Slocomb now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Carroll, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carroll has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Slocomb struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Carroll beat Slocomb 9-5 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carroll since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
