Mesquite is 0-3 against Duncanville since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Skeeters will be playing at home against the Panthers and Pantherettes at 7:00 p.m. Mesquite has given up an average of 39.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Thursday, Mesquite was beaten by Lancaster 64-20. While losing is never fun, the Skeeters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 427th, while the Tigers are ranked 57th).
Mesquite's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaiden Clayton, who threw for 151 yards and one TD, and Krisshaun Waters, who picked up 61 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Duncanville waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 40-13 victory over the Jaguars. With the Panthers and Pantherettes ahead 26-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Maximus The Great Denson and Donta Ware. Denson had a great game and rushed for 51 yards and one score on only five carries. Meanwhile, Ware did his best for the losing side, rushing for 42 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 67 yards and one touchdown.
One reason for the win was Duncanville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Jakhori Johnson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. He was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making eight total tackles.
Duncanville's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mesquite, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
