John Carroll Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-7 win over Odyssey Charter School. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 38 points or more this season.
John Carroll Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madi Burrowes, who went 6 for 13 en route to 14 points and five assists. Lila Theberge was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Fork played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Port St. Lucie, falling 49-19. The Bulldogs were down 36-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
John Carroll Catholic will need focus on slowing down Vivianna Morales, one of several South Fork players who made an impact when they last played. She posted three points in addition to 11 boards and four blocks. Morales is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jodee Jurovschi, who earned five points and four steals.
South Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for John Carroll Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: John Carroll Catholic has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 31.6 boards per game. However, it's not like South Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
