Permian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Midland Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Permian can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by San Angelo Central at home to the tune of 42-14. Permian pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit San Angelo Central had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Juzstyce Lara, who rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Lara is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Permian also got help from Noah Adams who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Midland unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. The contest between Midland and Midland Legacy wasn't particularly close, with Midland falling 49-31.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Stroman Bridges, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Bridges really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Elijah Mccoy also helped out as he racked up 108 rushing yards.
Permian's victory bumped their season record to 5-4 while Midland's defeat dropped theirs to 8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Permian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 253.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Midland struggles in that department as they've been even better at 351 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Permian strolled past Midland in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 31-15. Will Permian repeat their success, or does Midland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
