The Sutton Mustangs couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 46-37 to Freeman on Saturday. Sutton has struggled against Freeman recently, as their contest on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aidan Jones, who scored 9 points. Cole Baumert was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Sutton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Freeman, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutton will challenge Heartland on Tuesday. Hopefully Heartland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. Freeman will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Fillmore Central.
