Even though the Miami Christian Victors scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, the True North Classical Academy Titans still came out on top. True North Classical Academy enjoyed a cozy 86-69 win over Miami Christian. Given True North Classical Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Miami Christian is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jasen Lopez, who scored 38 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Gonzalez, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Miami Christian still got an impressive performance from Sebastian Gonzalez, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Christopher Ramos was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
True North Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Miami Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
True North Classical Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Archbishop McCarthy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Archbishop McCarthy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 576 points over their last eight games. As for Miami Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calusa Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Calusa Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Miami Christian likes a good challenge.
