Wilmington Friends and Woodbridge played the most hotly contested game in Independent this week, with Wilmington Friends eventually emerging with a 37-34 victory.
St. Andrew's's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Tilghman threw for 31 yards and Sterling Cousar had 18 yards receiving. On the ground Tilghman chipped in 192 yards. Joe Hines helped St. Andrew's' passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
St. Andrew's' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tilghman has thrown for 24 yards this season, while Hines has one catches for 13 yards. Tilghman also leads the league in rushing with 335 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Quakers take on the Cardinals. Wilmington Friends is currently in first, while St. Andrew's is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Robert Tattersall's team takes on Mike Hyde's team. The Quakers have allowed 73 points this season, while the Cardinals have given up 76.
Wilmington Friends made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,616 from 12,337. The improvement was the result of 37-34 victory over the Raiders last week.
