South Walton has gone a perfect 4-0 against Holmes County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. South Walton will welcome Holmes County at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Walton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Paxton. The Seahawks haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Zoey Kreinus was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tatum Kreinus, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Zoey wasn't the only one working in the hit department: South Walton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. South Walton is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Holmes County hadn't done well against Marianna recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Holmes County blew past Marianna 17-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Blue Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Savannah Ludwig tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kayeden Birge was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
The victory got South Walton back to even at 5-5. As for Holmes County, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Walton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Holmes County struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
