Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Terry Sanford Bulldogs walked away with it. They walked away with a 34-27 win over Vance County on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Terry Sanford sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Leading Terry Sanford to victory were Jaylen Wright and Kamal Thames. Wright threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, while Thames picked up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Terry Sanford also got help from Rashid Jones who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Vance County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shamir Sheppard, who rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Sheppard was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Javion Vines-holder also helped out as he racked up 132 rushing yards.
Terry Sanford has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Vance County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-1.
Terry Sanford will head out on the road to face off against Harnett Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vance County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
