Softball Recap: Granby Beats Norview for Their Second Straight Win

Granby won the last time they faced Norview and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Comets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pilots a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

AJ Lomogda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Lomogda was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Granby got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Pastorious, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. What's more, Pastorious posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caelah Garcia, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Granby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norview only posted an OBP of .286.

The win made it two in a row for Granby and bumps their season record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Norview, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granby will take on Camden County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Norview, they will challenge Bayside at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
