Belton has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Raymore-Peculiar Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Belton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 victory over Chrisman. The victory was all the more spectacular given Belton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Chrisman is ranked 101st).
Kordell Williams and Jw Johnson were among the main playmakers for Belton as the former scored 15 points and the latter scored 19 points along with two steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Cooper Shrum was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Raymore-Peculiar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-52 win over Raytown.
Belton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-14. As for Raymore-Peculiar, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Belton was able to grind out a solid win over Raymore-Peculiar in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 54-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Belton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
