Samantha Booth put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. Booth was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Soleil Gonzales was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lake View took on Chicago Academy on Wednesday. The Wildcats lost 13-1 to the Cougars. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Rickover Naval, Lake View also got a great game from a two-way player: Amani Giannopoulos. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Giannopoulos a new career-low in walks (one). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Giannopoulos wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Benitez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Rickover Naval dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Lake View, their record now sits at 2-6.
Everything went Rickover Naval's way against Lake View when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Rickover Naval made off with a 14-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seadragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
