The Rising Star Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. Their rough 46-23 loss to Evant might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Rising Star can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1146th, while Evant is ranked 431st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hailey Neri, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Waldrum, who scored 13 points.
Rising Star's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Evant, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Rising Star will head out on the road to face off against Brookesmith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Evant, they will be playing at home against Methodist Children's Home at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
