Our Lady of Good Counsel hasn't had much luck against Bishop O'Connell recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons will square off against the Bishop O'Connell Knights at 4:15 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Our Lady of Good Counsel has four wins , while Bishop O'Connell has 25 dating back to last season).
On Wednesday, Our Lady of Good Counsel needed a bit of extra time to put away Paul VI. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 4-3.
Our Lady of Good Counsel saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Camara, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Bishop O'Connell put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for The Academy of the Holy Cross. Bishop O'Connell was the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over The Academy of the Holy Cross.
Bri Lencz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Lencz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, MJ Melvin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Prykanowski, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Bishop O'Connell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .708. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Bishop O'Connell pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their record now sits at 4-0.
Our Lady of Good Counsel suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Bishop O'Connell when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Our Lady of Good Counsel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
