The Eaton Reds were the 66-59 winner over the Resurrection Christian Cougars when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Eaton fell 58-45 to Resurrection Christian on Friday. Eaton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Eaton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tayla Wiedeman. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Steinkamp, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Resurrection Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lysette Baatz out in front who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baatz has scored all season. Callie Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Eaton's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Resurrection Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eaton will take on Berthoud at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Weld Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
