MaxPreps All-American running back
K.P. Parks
was hospitalized briefly on Saturday after being tasered twice by police following a traffic stop in Mocksville, N.C., according to the
Salisbury (N.C.) Pos
t
and

.
The
West Rowan (Mt. Ulla, N.C.)
star was charged with resist, delay and obstruct by the Davie County sheriff’s office. No drugs or alcohol were found in his car. His mother reported that he has a bruised bone in the middle of his throat and barely can eat.
The University of Virginia recruit had been cited by an off-duty North Carolina highway patrol trooper on a motorcycle and charged with following too closely and passing in a no-passing zone.
Police described his behavior as erratic and tried to handcuff him. When he resisted, according to police, a scuffle ensued followed by two separate taser incidents.
He did not go to jail and was released to his parents on bond. Parks' mother Sherry told the Salisbury Post she would not comment on the incident until the family consults with their attorney.
Parks, a 5-foot-8, 195-pound senior, owns the North Carolina state record for career and single-season rushing yards with 10,895 and 3,794, respectively. He scored 59 touchdowns on 407 carries in 2009 leading West Rowan (16-0) to a second straight state 3A title.
