Riverton Parke is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Lafayette Central Catholic 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Madison Coonce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haylee Mathas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Maddy Lumaye was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Riverton Parke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 12-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Gophers have posted against the Cougars since April 27, 2021.
Sadie Weliver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Weliver was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Alexis Perez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Kadie Fearnow, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Riverton Parke's record now sits at 25-4. As for Clinton Prairie, their record is now 19-8.
