The Calipatria Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Holtville Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calipatria will be strutting in after a victory while Holtville will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Calipatria has not done well against Brawley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Calipatria sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 victory over Brawley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Calipatria has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Holtville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 54-27 loss at the hands of Brawley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holtville has scored all season.
Calipatria's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Holtville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Calipatria took their victory against Holtville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 64-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calipatria since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
