Softball Recap: Antioch Sets Scoring Season-High Against Stratford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Antioch). They never let the Stratford Spartans get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won nine matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Arianna Mitchell made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mitchell was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Avah Haynie was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chiari Batey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Antioch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Antioch's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Stratford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Antioch will challenge Overton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Stratford, they will square off against Whites Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
