After a string of three wins, the Kearns Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 56-47 to Taylorsville. Kearns has struggled against Taylorsville recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Kearns lost, one person who can't be blamed is Iman Finau. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Finau hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Pilimai, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Ella Wolfgramm was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Marlee Reupena was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and five steals.
Kearns now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Taylorsville, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kearns will take on West Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jordan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Kearns likes a good challenge. As for Taylorsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cyprus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
