The Northeastern Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Shenandoah Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Shenandoah heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Northeastern took over last week. The Knights put the hurt on Hagerstown with a sharp 36-14 victory on Friday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Tigers are ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trent Deloney was his usual excellent self, rushing for 51 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 66 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northeastern's defense and their four sacks. Kale Hansen was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Northeastern got some further help from Charlie Shaffer: he picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, Shenandoah made sure to put some points up on the board against Monroe Central on Friday. The Raiders blew past the Golden Bears, posting a 44-13 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-0.
Northeastern better focus on containing Cash Cowley and Jarrett Helman as the pair were huge in Shenandoah's win. Cowley rushed for 189 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, while Helman threw for 171 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Cowley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making 12 total tackles (2.5 for loss).
Shenandoah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Shenandoah pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Northeastern, their record is now 8-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Northeastern has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 206.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Northeastern couldn't quite get it done against Shenandoah in their previous meeting on October 3rd as they fell 50-43. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
