California Division I Player of the Year: Jake Browning, FolsomAlthough he had set numerous state and national records during his incredible three-year career at Folsom while winning three Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championships, Jake Browning had never won a state title.
That all changed in the final game of his career, when Browning led the Bulldogs to a 68-7 win over Oceanside in the CIF Division I Bowl Game.

setting 220th touchdown pass.

In the game, Browning completed 27 of 35 passes for 439 yards and six touchdown passes. While those numbers are spectacular, they don't even come close to matching Browning's single-game bests. In fact, Browning's best numbers occurred in his very first varsity game in 2012, when he
threw for 689 yards and 10 touchdowns.
In between that first and last game, Browning put up numbers that will be hard to replicate. He holds state records in the following categories:
- Completions in a Career (1,191)
- Attempts in a Career (1,708)
- Yards in a Career (16,775)
- Touchdown Passes in a Career (229)
- Completions in a Season (440)
- Attempts in a Season (605)
- Yards in a Season (5,790)
- Touchdown Passes in a Season (91)
- Touchdown Passes in a Game (10)
He also holds
national records for career touchdown passes, single-season touchdown passes and single-season completions.
Browning is therefore the easy choice as the 2014 MaxPreps California Division I Player of the Year.
California Division I Coach of the Year: Matt Logan, Centennial (Corona)After his team fell in two of its first three games of the season, including a 43-42 loss to then-national No. 1 Bishop Gorman, Logan led Centennial to wins in its next 11 games, including a tough playoff gauntlet that included victories over Serra (Gardena), Mater Dei (Santa Ana), Bishop Amat (La Puente) and defending champion St. John Bosco (Bellflower).
Centennial fell to De La Salle (Concord) in the Open Division Bowl Game, 63-42, and finished the season 12-3 overall.
