Sulphur took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Notre Dame, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Tors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Pioneers on Monday. Pressy White was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Claire Mellard tossed a big game, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits.
Back at the plate, Charlie Kyle was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jenna Gautreaux, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Sulphur pushed their record up to 17-12 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 30-2.
