The Mission Hills Grizzlies will take on the Del Norte Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Del Norte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mission Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Sage Creek. The victory was some much needed relief for the Grizzlies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Nate Sheriff looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micah Mecucci, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mission Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Del Norte). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past El Camino 14-12. The victory was familiar territory for the Nighthawks, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Griffen Gusich was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Landon Cheshire, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Del Norte pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Mission Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Mission Hills skirted past Del Norte 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Nighthawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
