It was a good run, but the Blue Ridge Christian Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to Whitefield Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Jones, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Price, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds.
Blue Ridge Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. As for Whitefield Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Blue Ridge Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-34 loss vs. Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool on the 8th. Whitefield Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 57-49 win against Shawnee Mission Christian on the 9th.
