Avon will challenge Wayland-Cohocton on the road at 7:30 PM on Friday. If the matchup is anything like the 39-48 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
Last week, Avon couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were given a punishing 13-48 defeat at the hands of Le Roy. Avon got a solid performance out of senior Nathan Freeman, who rushed for 95 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. In fact, with 10 tackles Freeman was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Wayland-Cohocton took care of business in their home opener. They took their contest against Caledonia-Mumford/Byron-Bergen 28-14.
Wayland-Cohocton's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Avon's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Wayland-Cohocton can add another positive mark to their record or if Avon can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Wayland-Cohocton's step.
