The Dunnellon Tigers won the last time they faced the West Port Wolf Pack, and things went their way on Friday too. Dunnellon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over West Port.
Dunnellon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Nelson out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Burns, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Dunnellon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for West Port, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.
Dunnellon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Santa Fe at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Santa Fe is ranked 345th, while Dunnellon is ranked 367th). As for West Port, they will be playing at home against Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
