Ashley Little made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison Gussman was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Luna, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Opelousas Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while it was Cecilia who put the first runs on the board on Thursday, it was Teurlings Catholic who put up more. The Bulldogs lost 17-10 to the Rebels. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Opelousas Catholic's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Cecilia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-19.
Everything went Opelousas Catholic's way against Cecilia when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Opelousas Catholic made off with an 18-0 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
