The Orange Panthers lost against the Northwood Chargers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Orange received a tough blow as they fell 71-53 to Northwood. While losing is never fun, Orange can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Northwood is ranked 50th).
Despite the defeat, Orange saw an underclassman step up: Coleman Cloer scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mason Robinson, who scored 12 points.
Northwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Fowler out in front who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Powell, who scored 15 points.
Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Northwood, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Orange is on the road again on Friday and play against Jordan at 2:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully Jordan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday. Northwood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Richmond at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Richmond is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 78.3 points per game.
