It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Smyrna Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 26-14 victory over Independence. The win was familiar territory for Smyrna who now have seven in a row.
The critical scores for Smyrna came from Austin Morris, Tyreque Mccarver, and Michael Robinson.
When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Mcneilly. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown.
Smyrna's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. As for Independence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Smyrna will be playing at home against Ravenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
