Lake View hasn't had much luck against Jones recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Lake View has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lake View is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Wednesday. They lost 18-8 to Mather. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Amani Giannopoulos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Benitez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Jones had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Anna Black made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Treccia, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Treccia is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Lucy Paskiewicz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive contests.
Jones' victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Lake View, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jones struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake View might still be hurting after the 20-2 loss they got from Jones in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
