With a playoff win on the line, Wheeling Central Catholic rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the Wyoming East Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Maroon Knights, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Cover tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Wheeling Central Catholic let Gary Hatfield and Luke Tiu run wild. Hatfield went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI, while Tiu went 1-for-3 with one home run. Those two triples gave Hatfield a new career-high. Zayne Rosnick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Wheeling Central Catholic, bringing their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Wyoming East, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 24-8 record.

As of now, neither Wheeling Central Catholic nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
