WISH Academy is 0-6 against Animo Venice since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The WISH Academy Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Animo Venice Pirates at 5:30 p.m. WISH Academy will be strutting in after a win while Animo Venice will be coming in after a loss.
The third road game was the charm for WISH Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They claimed a resounding 92-31 victory over Simon Tech on the road. The result was nothing new for WISH Academy, who have now won three matchups by 49 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead WISH Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Austin, who scored 14 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Raheel Narayan, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Animo Venice's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Rancho Dominguez by a score of 68-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rashad Johnson, who scored 34 points. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Elliot Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
WISH Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Animo Venice, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
WISH Academy lost to Animo Venice on the road by a decisive 56-39 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can WISH Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
