Winslow has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Oceanside Mariners at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winslow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Mariners are ranked second).
On Saturday, Winslow was the victim of a tough 68-47 defeat at the hands of the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Oceanside put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 79-26 victory over Mount View. Oceanside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Bailey Breen was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 31 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that she posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Renee Ripley, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Winslow's loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Oceanside, their win bumped their record up to 16-0.
Winslow was dealt a bruising 94-13 defeat at the hands of the Mariners when the teams last played back in January. Can Winslow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
