Basketball Recap: Michael Pierantozzi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gloucester County Christian over the Pilgrim Academy

After flying high against Calvary Academy last Friday, Gloucester County Christian came back down to earth. The Gloucester County Christian Conquerors fell 64-55 to The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers on Thursday. While the Conquerors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pioneers 17-10 in the first quarter.

Several Conquerors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Pierantozzi, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Pierantozzi a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was David DellaRova, who posted 17 points and seven rebounds.

Mason Parmer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards for The Pilgrim Academy. Parmer has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Gloucester County Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for The Pilgrim Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.

Gloucester County Christian has already played their next contest, a 50-7 victory against Cumberland Christian on the 31st. As for The Pilgrim Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-49 loss against Gloucester County Christian on the 4th.
