South Point is 1-9 against Portsmouth since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pointers will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, South Point turned things around against Rock Hill on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Redmen 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pointers have posted since May 13, 2025.

Caesyn Pope spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Point is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-10 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth was able to grind out a solid victory over Gallia Academy on Monday, taking the game 6-1.
Portsmouth also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Leelind Scurlock gave up only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Trevin Brooks and Jacob Roth did most of the damage at the plate: Brooks went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Roth went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Caine Boggs was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Portsmouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Portsmouth's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for South Point, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.
