The Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 60-43 fall against Shaker. While losing is never fun, Saratoga Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Shaker is ranked 32nd).
Shaker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Geter, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Giada Lanni was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Saratoga Springs has fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 2-11. As for Shaker, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saratoga Springs will square off against Troy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shaker, they will head out on the road to take on Shenendehowa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shenendehowa will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
