Lathrop is on a two-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), North Pole a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Lathrop faced Nome-Beltz in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lathrop received a tough blow as they fell 74-59 to Nome-Beltz. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their loss, Lathrop saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Skinner, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Jewitt Hill was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, North Pole had to suffer through a rough 78-46 loss at the hands of Ketchikan. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Pole in their matchups with Ketchikan: they've now lost five in a row.
Lathrop's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North Pole, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Lathrop was able to grind out a solid win over North Pole in their previous meeting back in February, winning 54-41. Does Lathrop have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Pole turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
