The Silliman Institute Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Bowling Green Buccaneers at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Silliman Institute and six for Bowling Green.
On January 5th, Silliman Institute suffered a tough 55-34 defeat at the hands of Parklane Academy. While losing is never fun, Silliman Institute can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 184th in Louisiana, while Parklane Academy is ranked 24th in Mississippi).
Bowling Green suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 63-26 to Oak Forest Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Silliman Institute has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Bowling Green, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
Silliman Institute took their victory against Bowling Green in their previous meeting back in January of 2016 by a conclusive 40-16. The rematch might be a little tougher for Silliman Institute since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
