Liberty's Ivan Oseguera recorded the longest rushing play in Bay Valley this season in his game against Clayton Valley last week. Oseguera scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 122 on the day as his team lost to the Eagles.
Pittsburg was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Pirates vanquished Granite Bay 28-27 earlier in the week.
Freedom's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dante Mayes threw for 167 and two touchdowns and Tyler Saude had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Joe Mixon chipped in 188 yards. Devontae Young helped Freedom's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
The Falcons' Mayes and Darrell Daniels have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Mayes has thrown for 857 yards this season, while Daniels has 18 catches for 323 yards. Elbert Hamilton Jr. from Antioch leads the league in rushing with 707 yards.
Two of the top units in Bay Valley will face off this week when Freedom takes on Heritage. Kevin Hartwig's team's offense has recorded 187 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Patriots have permitted only 178 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pittsburg takes on Liberty. At the moment, Victor Galli's team is in third, while Nate Smith's team is in fifth.
The Pirates moved up to 109 from 231 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Pittsburg climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-27 win over the Grizzlies.
