The Eldorado Eagles will challenge the Los Lunas Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Lunas will be up against a hot Eldorado squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Manzano on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Sullivan Wilson and Eric Yturbe did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Yturbe got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Mestas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eldorado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Albuquerque typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Los Lunas proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Bulldogs 15-5. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Los Lunas let Jasiah Byers and Cruz Romero run wild. Byers went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles, while Romero went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Byers is becoming a predictor of Los Lunas' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 12-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mark Scime, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Los Lunas' victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Eldorado, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .528. However, it's not like Los Lunas struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado beat Los Lunas 12-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
