The Wingfield Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Richland by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (57), Wingfield still had to take the loss.
Wingfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Martavius Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Bennett also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Arrington, who scored 19 points along with six steals.
Wingfield dropped their record down to 1-20 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Richland, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16.
Wingfield will take on McComb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Richland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lanier at 7:30 p.m.
